I’m proud to share my recent photo story published in the Spring 2025 issue of the Pasadena City College Spotlight Paper Magazine. This project explores the rich history of the Nursing Department at Pasadena City College by creatively bridging past and present.
The story features a total of 20 images — 10 archival photographs from the 1950s through the 1990s, alongside 10 contemporary photos I shot that reimagine those moments in a modern environment. This visual dialogue highlights the evolution of nursing education and practice over the decades.
he three-page spread, which I designed myself, is placed in the heart of the magazine. To reflect the medical theme, I incorporated a unique stylistic element: colored plaster strips that represent different decades. The blue hues evoke a sense of clinical medicine, while the warm brown tones recall the skin colors often seen in medical plasters and equipment — creating a subtle yet meaningful connection to healthcare.
More than 20 students collaborated with Pasadena staff on this inspiring project, making it a true community effort and a meaningful tribute to the legacy and future of nursing education.
